Stopped there as the GF needed the facilities and as my name is Ben, felt the need to try the Special Ben hash. Was the surprise of the trip, very cheap (10-11 eur) and pure pressed pollen, basically a growers hash. Highly recommend to grab some gear here, not really a place to chill, but good hash. The Lemon Haze was also decent. But the hash. Quite nice. My boyfriend and I went to Bens. We liked the place because it was not crowded. And the hash was great we got really stoned in the good way. But the toilet is not great. Probably shouldn't have gone here due to the bad reviews, but it is the same name as my boss and I thought let's give it a shot. It was also nearby my hotel. It wasn't worth the trip. Won't ever go back again. I tried their Jack Herer, but it wasn't very good. No flavor, small buds, no high. Very disappointed. We called into Bens for a final smoke & cuppa before heading back to Schipol (2nd Jan 2006). The guy working there was more trolleyed than me! He forgot the coffee so gave me some weed, very nice if you're on the way home! Finally the coffee arrived then my wonderful hubby Sean had a heart attack. Did the guy working there notice? No. After being off work for 11 months, Sean is back working but taking things steady. On 9th Feb '07 we are back in Dam for friends 40th birthday party. Do you think we should return to Bens? Our first stop in a coffeeshop in Amsterdam, we go in asking for some weed, and a pre-rolled joint to try, and the woman give us a hash one. Taste was not superb, just OK, then I ask her to buy some weed, and she told us, she only have 2 var., and we bought one of them, just the worst I can ever try. Seats were not comfortable at all. Great friendly shop, The 1st I visited after I got out of Central Station (on the recommendation of my girlfriend). I bought some "Special Ben" hash which was a great hash real smooth flavour and nice and mellow and the K2 weed they do is fantastic (neither bag lasted very long). Great atmosphere, the guys working there are friendly and helpful. The aquarium in there is interesting too. Highly recommended. The first coffee shop I ever went into. A bit on the small side but a great place all the same, friendly staff, great music. I would recommend Bens, weed was superb. Had to go to this one for obvious reasons (one of us is called Ben). Nice little place served decent sized drinks of tea/coffee. Had a quick glance at the menu but didn't buy any, prices looked very reasonable and seemed to be plenty of choice. Seating is a bit uncomfortable, but not bad for a short stay. Would definitely go back here next time we go to the dam. This was the first coffeeshop I went to when I first went to the 'Dam back in early 2001, so I always pop in out of tradition. It's quite a dark and dingy place, but that's how I like them! The hard wooden seats were quite uncomfortable and the Hobbit-sized tables were quite an obstacle for a big strapping bloke like myself. That said, the various staff I have seen in Bens during my visits to the 'Dam have always been very friendly - The girl in there this year let me have a closer look at their range of weed, as well as several sniffs! Opted for the 'Ice' weed in the end, which was a great smooth smoke and got me ticking along nicely! The music tends to be Hip-Hop, which is no bad thing either. I arrived as most heavy bag, aching fee and dying for a smoke. Dumped the bags at the hotel and being my first time in the Dam promised myself to stop in the first cafe I walk past. Ben!! A strange name for a coffeeshop but hey, my mate's called Ben so I'm in. First impression was bit the place as a bit small and empty but cosy looking. The guy behind the counter was a star, told him it was my first visit and he was chuffed I chose his coffeeshop for my first!! The weed is good, fair priced and the staff were really friendly, even talking on my phone to a cab driver who got lost with my mates in. Try this place for a real chilled smoke. Many thanks to the staff for helping me and my friends out. Peace! More of a juice bar than a coffeeshop, visited on a couple of occasions 5th - 7th Aug 2003. No alcohol served, but a cosy little place outta the heat (if u were there at the same time u'd know what I mean!). Atmospheric lighting, a chillum at each table & bongs for hire (one guy made the most of, to hilarious effect) & most important of all, a tidy smokers menu. Recommend the orange bud & polm ready rolled. Nice to lie back & watch the street performers go by! No more comments on this shop please, unless you've got something special to say. This page is getting too long! Please post your comments here instead.
